This piece was inspired by the often untold story of the women in Jesus' inner circle who were the first witnesses of the resurrection. In today's society, women's stories are too often pushed aside or diminished. The burden we carry as women can often feel heavy as the stone in front of Jesus' tomb, too heavy to roll away by ourselves. In the Gospel of Mark, the narrative makes clear that in fact, Jesus chose women as the witnesses of a miracle - the same women who, ironically, witnessed and tended to the preparation of Christ's body in the tomb where other disciples failed to show up. This is a piece about believing women.
